Hi guys,

I just set about putting new brake shoes on the rear of my 90. Once fitted i put the drum back on again but could barely move it around, checked the adjusted and the shoes are in as far as they can go, i have the type with one adjuster, have one spring on the top that i have put going from the stud on the backing plate to the stud on the shoe, and one down the bottom going between thw two shoes, am i doing something wrong? they seem the same as the old ones...

I fitted new Shoes last weekend, mine were binding also, In my case i had forgot to adjust the bolt on the back of the drum, which is attached to a semi circle thing inside the drum, I used a 13mm spanner ( i think) then turned it until the shoes moved in slightly, this worked for me,

P.s this may be the worst explanation ever .......... :behindsofa:

as i said trax, mine only has one adjustment peg, so that cant be the problem but thanks anyway, tottot they seem fairly free to move and will retract all the way back so shouldnt be a problm..

ah sorry, didn't really read it :p

I had this problem on the 110 and had the shoes on wrong, one has the adjuster hole in a slightly different place.
Any way if yours are on correct etc you could always grind a very small amount off the heel of the brake shoe and that would give you enough to free the drum off when fitted.
Shouldn't have to do that though so something must be amiss.

Cylinder backed right off, adjusters backed right off and shoes on correct and you should be good to go.

Drums aren't distorted are they:)

I bought some aftermarket shoes for my 110 - the shoes are bigger on the 110 than the 90 - however, the guy in the shop told me to grind off a bevel all around the wear pad to stop it binding. FWIW it worked for me!

Cheers,

Vulch
