brake pipes

ello peeps!!

i want to try making my own brake pipes as mine are pretty caroded,can anyone recomend a reasonably priced/quality flaring kit and also where i can get the union nuts from,allready got a coil of pipe for a fiver.

With regard to flaring kits, IMHO, get one of these



and not of these.



No reflection on manufacture or supplier, just an ease of use and quality of flare comment

reuse the nuts from the old pipes

now then, to true mate, and cut the pipe with pipe cutters not hacksaw ,most motor factors sell the nuts.

Take your point but who is gonna pay £140 for a pipe flaring kit for the odd pipe, when a £14 one will do?

thank's for the reply's guy's,ive never made my own brake line's before so can't justify spending a substantial amount on tools that arnt going to be used very often,the top one in your pic andy looks as though it should be bench/vice mounted'' which in it's self is a problem as i don't have a bench'looks a well made piece of kit though,now the bottom one seem's more user friendly to me in the way that i could use it close to the vehicle i'm working on but thats just my take on it.

I wouldnt spend 140 quid on flare kit, as i bought a complete set of copper pipes for my 90 for about 36 quid from crappocks just follow the numbers and bend to shape, simples

dont suppose you know if you can get the flare forms for different size flares do ya ? and in that kit you got how many flaring formers are there and what size are they ? .

right thank's to all that helped me with this one' i've now got all the kit together and it stand's me a little under £45 all in'so well chuffed,all i need to do now is practice' teflon special thank's to you mate for the tutorial big big help maybe it should be a sticky!!

Hee hee, I can fully recommend the Teflon tutorial; I made H.L.'s new brake pipes up under his expert supervision the only problem I had was my little girly hands were at times a tad lacking in 'grunt' to get a nicely formed flare, so if a vice was available, it would be a help in this, as 2 hands could be used to turn the flaring lever doo-dah

nah plenty of grunt in my hands gertie there like shovels,well done on doing your's yourself good on ya girl
