brake pedal squelch

Of late I've been hearing a slight squelch when pressing the brake pedal, right in the last fifth of travel. Yesterday it changed to where, if I keep my foot on the pedal and the car is at standstill, I can hear a wet sounding continuous hiss and after a while the pump comes on. What am I looking at please?

Rash don't know mate. Maybe an internal leak in the modulator. Have you stuck in on diagnostics to see if you have a valve sticking. But it maybe something mechanical if you have no warning flashing up.

Ah well, cheers Wammers. No shortcuts for me I guess, just have to get grubby and go looking! Diag shows nothing btw.
