hiya

well ive now got all my new brake lines flares cut off, that where single females and made into double female flares

as im a member of a response group found out that one member was a mot examiner and mechanic, who had a professional brake flaring tool, who kindly came over to me, cut them all off and redone them all,

all the lines have now been fully tested and examined to which has now allowed me back on the road and also in the knowledge theyve been done correctly

noticed the difference with him using his flaring tool, which made the flares alot thicker

every joint was undone, flares cut off and redone , brakes bled out and reinspected,

was a very steep learning curve and i wouldnt ever personally do my own flares again unless i spent a couple of hundred quid on a professional flaring tool

now having new discs and pads on the front, new shoes i nearley gave myself whiplash when i stamped on the brakes and by christ does if stop

just wished to say a massive thanks for the great advice in guiding me and also i knew i had to get in professional help in as i just couldnt have lived with myself if something had gone wrong if my flares had failed and caused an accident

also when one was undone the flare broke apart so i think someone was looking over my shoulder and also thank christ i took the decission in taking the hippo off the road

also got all the oils and filters done, engine, autobox, ird, rear diff,

the autobox was over filled by at least quarter of a litre and it now changes smoother and quieter, no jumping into gears anymore and the read diff and ird needed at least 300 ml top up and there also quiter to

noticed the difference when i went down the motorway

thks so much guys

Sometimes its better to have it done by the pro's when unsure. My local trade shop about a mile away from me does new brake lines they just ask for the old one to get the length and right ends on them and its really cheap or cheaper than buying a kit and the tubing etc. Glad you got sorted out reasonably quickly .
