Brake lights stay on

Hi all, my 1998 Freelander 1.8 has developed a brake light fault. When normal day time running, brake lights work correctly. However, when I switch my side lights or main lights on the three lights stay on and do not illuminate when brakes are applied. Sounds like a bad earth somewhere to me. Usually this problem affects just one bulb and is the contact to the side of the bulb, but in this case, because it seems to apply to all the stop lights, I would start looking for the bad earth connection in the wiring.

Also try the brake light switch on peddle adjustment
