Hi all, someone's just pointed out that the brake lights on my S3 lightweight have stopped working, so ruling out faulty bulbs I'm guessing I should first have a look at the brake light switch. It's one of those things that they missed out of the Hayne's manual...
Can someone tell me where to find it?
Cheers

Not sure about a series 3 but my 2a has the switch on the little brass cross junction mounted on the chassis. You will find it under the drivers footwell ontop of the chassis. Probably easier to find it if you get underneath.
Did you check your earths??? do that first.

Depends if you've got a servo I think.

Its a threaded brass thing with two spade connectors with green wire. They are one of the crappiest, most badly engineered parts of a Land Rover in my opinion. Mine needs constant adjustment to keep it working!

Ok thanks guys. Haven't looked at anything yet because the electrical side of landies is a bit of a grey area for me, thought I'd just ask on here first. Thanks for your help, I'll go out and have a look if it ever stops raining...

if its non servo it will be attached to the brake pedal to test just remove the two wires and touch together the lights should come on i got given one from a chap who has got a triumph stag

Ive just had the same thing happen on my ex military series 3- turned out to be a new brake switch needed. If it has a servo, the switch is mounted on the left side of the engine bay (as you look at it from the front), in the rear corner. Im not good with electrics either, so got a mate with a meter to test the terminals to make it easier when installing (the switch itslef just screws in and has 2 spade connectors). Phil
