Hi
I can't find a definitive answer to this, hopefully someone knowledgeable can reassure me.
I'm getting the dash message to say the level is low, but I'm not sure if its the connector, the loom or the sensor itself.
The actual level itself is on maximum, so my question is, can I short the connector terminals to see if the warning goes away? Or will this kill the ecu?
thanks in advance

If after standing a while it is on MAX BEFORE pump starts it is low. After standing overnight level should be well above MAX. And drop to MAX when pump stops. When topping up fill to MAX line ONLY after pump stops.

cheers i will double check tonight
the accumulator is fairly new and pump runs for a second or 2 every 4th press of the pedal, which I understand to be healthy, but the system seems to lose pressure fairly quickly.. is that normal?

System will bleed back from accumulator to tank at varying rates. So it may take up to 40 seconds for pump to fill accumulator on start up if it's been left for a while. Only drive off when minimum working pressure is obtained and the TC lamp goes out.

I'll double check the level once I get back home, but getting back to my original question. Is it possible to short the connector without damaging the ecu?
The reason I ask, I didn't get the error until i disconnected the connector, ie no dash warning, unplug, plug back in and the warning pops up, just seems a bit of a coincidence.
Either way I'll check the level with the engine running to be sure

Right ok, got home and fluid is well above maximum. Turned the ignition on so the pump starts, TC light goes out after 12-14 seconds ish, and the pump goes off at around 30 seconds. Which sounds good! At that point I get the low brake fluid warning, I get out and the level is bang on maximum. :(

I’m not sure how the level works - check RAVE but 10yr old fluid would have probably absorbed enough to change its original properties/perhaps volume?

Just a thought, bad reed valve shouldn’t cause weak braking I would have thought.

I've definitely seen older/worse fluid. It's on the todo list but I'd like to fix the issue first of its possible. Although if changing the fluid had fixed the warning for others then worth a shot! Brakes work perfectly fine and vehicle stops as it's supposed to so pretty sure there's nothing else wrong

Figured out its safe to short out the connector, which put the warning out.
This means it must be the reed switch or the float, I'll take the reservoir off and see if i can figure out how the switch comes out! According to RAVE it's simply 2 clips, but didn't give any more detail than that
