P38A Brake bleed, vacuum type pump

Hi all, can the brakes be bled (a la RAVE description/method) using one of those vacuum pump type bleed kits - where you apply a vacuum direct to the bleed point - or does it have to be a pedal-pumped operation?

Bleed only according to RAVE.

+1 . . . vacuum doesn't work. You need an assistant to operate the brake pedal & ignition, which you open & close the bleed valves.

However vacuum is really useful for initially filling new pipes with fluid before bleeding. Also helps if your replacing old fluid . . . . suck until you get the old crap right out.

The front brakes are bled first hydrostatically after depressurising the system with NO pressure in the accumulator. The rear brakes CANNOT be bled unless there is pressure in the system. Follow the instructions in RAVE.
