Having a problem with brake bias on my 99 Disco one.

Non ABS single line brakes

There doesn't seem to be enough braking effort at the rear.

I have recently bled the brakes so was wondering if I could have upset the shuttle in the bias valve.

Any one know how best to make sure it's working correctly?

It looks like the valve off a classic Mini which one had to stab at the brakes a few times to reset the valve. Its a bit awkward with a servo though as this doesn't seem to have worked.

thanks:)

does it bleed both ends (front /back)with plenty of fluid flow

Yes, bleeds fine, got all new calipers on and braided hoses, I only wonder because the fronts lock up under very heavy braking in the wet. I tried some test braking to get the discs and pads hot and the rears were only 65 to 70 degrees whilst the fronts were 275.
Maybe thats normal and just me worrying.

front is were all the weight will be and braking done so not surprising

Agreed, I'm begining to wonder if my vac pump may be worn out because instead of plodding about at under 2000 rpm, tonight I gave it some stick and with the engine coming down from 3000rpm whilst breaking the pedal effort was much reduced and brakes fantastic.

I have another vac pump somewhere and a spare servo so will start experimenting during next week.:)

Changed the fuel filter today and whilst looking around under the bonnet I checked the main pipe from vac pump to servo.
The pipe was ok but then I notived the little pipe coming off the main one and disappearing around the back of the engine.
It went to a small valve of sorts near the jack at the front, this then went to the EGR which I have disconnected, I put a screw in the end of the pipe but for some reason one other little pipe was left open.

I disconnected them all and blanked off the pipes and would you believe I have my brakes back to what they should be.

They stop with a light pedal even on tickover..result:clap2:
