Sorry, probably covered before but can't find any solutions.
Problem: none of these lights work, nor does the 'reverse' wiper. 2 amigos on.
Situation: Fuse 2 is ok and has power. Brake pedal switch has power. Have renewed the switch. bulbs light with 12v direct. Don't know where header 0286 is to check it. Have stripped and cleaned ignition switch.
Has anyone heard of this before and where I can look, prod, hit or generally wiggle about.
Thanks in advance.
Oh and it's a 2006 td4 Freelander

Could be corrosion on one of the bulbs or on its contact in the bulb holder or a bad earth

Thanks Madmustang, confused, why would a corroded bulb cause the rear wiper to not fire up? I'm trying to find a common denominator and the header is the only one other than the ignition switch which I have cleaned and now know to be good. I hoped it would be the switches and therefore two faults but the new brake switch hasn't fixed that side of things. I hate electrics:-(

Just thinking of the 2 amigos fella. Something happened to mine a couple of months back. The rear wiper stopped working as did the rear window. Looked it up on Landy Zone and it turned out to be a fuse that controlled both. It looked alright too but replaced it anyhoo and PiffPaffPuff it all worked again. It can’t do any harm to change it to rule it out if nothing else.

Thanks for replies guys, guess that's me occupied for tomorrow. No towbar freelance. I have rave but it's for the older L series and I don't know what has changed ( for example can't find any ref to PiffPaffPuff :) , but using it as a guide all the same. I'll change the fuse for a different one. Will keep you posted and don't stay up all night thinking about it. LOL. Hopefully will get new reverse switch tomorrow and a friend has Hawkeye but don't know if it will work on the freebie.

Thanks Madmustang, treating as two separate issues now to try to simplify things. Reverse lights just don't work, hopefully just the switch. Brake lights, well, stationary with engine on they work fine. Well I would say that the brakes are actually working before the lights come on, but that's a detail. At least they work and I know the wiring to they is fine. Now drive and depress the brake pedal, sometimes the 2 amigos come on and sometimes not. It doesn't seem to be related to road speed or gears or pressure on the pedal. Would a worn pad trigger this? Don't think so myself but just asking. Once the two amigos are on the brake lights stop working. Re switch position, I have it set so the tip of the switch is in contact with the pedal is this correct?

Could you up load photo of the lights please? My mind does not work proper some times with out seeing it

Will do Mad.. Reverse lights sorted. Someone, in removing the gearbox to do the clutch, hadn't removed the connection and pulled the connection apart. No further forward with brake lights.

You need to get the diagnostic codes read from the ABS - it will tell you what it thinks is wrong and why the Amigos are being thrown.
Thanks Grumpy, tried to go down that route with a friends Hawkeye, but he doesn't have access for freelander vehicles.

Yes a good reader/code reset machine is what I am after but there are so many with different prices I dont know which one to get that will read ABS codes and not cost the same as a second hand Freelander

I know, just had a quick look.....£190 for an access code. I've looked at the icarsoft ones before but didn't take the plunge. There're a bit more reasonably priced, but then if they don't read that one vital thing that you want then what's the point.

Exactly! I may have a quick look on LandyZone and if I dont find what I am looking for. I will start a thread or a Poll on the subject ;)

Well this is embarrassing, but for completeness of the thread here goes.
Everyone said it was the stop light switch and it was. The main issue here was I didn't realise there is a stop light switch and a brake pedal position switch. I replaced the latter, obviously to no avail. I have now stripped down the stop switch and cleaned it and all is good again and no dash lights. A twenty minute fix that took the better part of a week. Always learning.

That's why I always start with the easy stuff first and progress to more complicated fixes. Glad you got it fixed :)
