help, I have a 110 R reg 300 tdi and it keeps stalling when I stop at traffice lights, it does not do it all the time. I have had the fuel pick up pipe checked, new lift pump, no leaks and the stop solinoide. It seems to happen less when I have a full tank of dev.
Has any one any ideas, I am running out of money !!!!!

Check the slow running lever on the injection pump.

What you describe is the classic effect of the slow running being controlled by the main throttle linkage, instead of by the slow running lever.

As you slow down, with your foot OFF the throttle, the injection of fuel is completely stopped. As the engine speed approaches tickover/idle speed, the IDLE GOVERNOR should take control and prevent the engine from stalling.

If these two controls are not properly set, the idle governor fails to engage because the throttle linkage is still "on" a bit, and so the engine stops before the main governor has time to catch it.

It may NOT be this, but be aware of the possibilty.
