Hi everyone. I am new to this so forgive me if I get it wrong at first. I have a 88” series 2A which has been fitted with a 200 tdi engine, it is standard apart from that with a full canvas tilt. My problem is while driving as soon as the road undulates or I hit a pot hole the Landy starts to bounce which cause my foot to bounce on the accelerator which then causes the vehicle to bounce even more, kangaroo-in down the road. To stop this I have to either floor the accelerator or Back off and start again. It is fitted with parabolic springs, but this problem used to happen with the old leaf springs. Has anyone else experienced this or can some suggest a remedy?
Many thanks in advance

Its is a dead simple and applies to all land rovers, push the right side of your foot/shoe/boot against the bulkhead sidewall so your foot/shoe/boot is in effect damped by the side of the bulkhead.

So long as you can take the abuse the helpful advice will flow:D

Ps it also depends on your throttle pedal set up, full stroke on the inj pump should = full stroke on the throttle pedal.
So if for example you had foot flat to the flloor but the inj pump is not at its max position as the engine bounces about the throttle postiion will move a knatts cock at the inj pump, hence the jerking.
Defender engine rubbers help as well.

Many thanks for this! I’m not very mechanically minded but I will discuss this with others I know. Not sure if I have explained my problem very well but if the rear of the Land Rover has a load in or I am towing the bounce stops.

That is also quite common in any vehicle with leaf springs.

Has your car got a hand throttle? I ask as that way you could try it down a quiet but pot holed road, knowing that your foot has no influence.

Are you on the original rod linkage or cable?

Hi, thanks to all for all the info so far. Two of the shocks were replaced when the new parabolic springs were fitted, all seem ok with no leaks. They are just basic run of the meal shocks, I did wonder if I should beef them up a bit or get something more specialised, not sure what though?
