Hi Guys

bought my defender 300tdi couple of years ago with a 2" lift pre done, I would like to replace the springs as the current rear are a bit tired.

The current drive is quite bouncy and if I would quite like to "stiffen it up" (oo er missus) I do a bit off roading a bit greenlaning and alot of regular road and farm driving (no heavy loads to often) but mostly unladen.

What would be good springs to look at? Noticed TerraFirma do 3 types

I might as well replace the shockers too eh?

If you want to stiffen it up, then perhaps its the shocks you should be paying more attension too. My ES9000 shocks dont seem to last much longer than a couple of years, and when i changed them it was much stiffer. Also the angle of the shock absorber makes a massive difference, but if you have a standard set up you dont have to worry. Terra Firma shocks are good (so im told) and they do some that the claim to be very stiff. Ive only read about there springs, if it was me, i would buy the highest rated ones. :D Perhaps this isnt always the best plan though. Do you want to keep the lift?

the bouncyness suggestes that your dampers (shocks) are damaged as they are designd to give a more level ride and stop u simply bouncing dwn the road which u would if u just had springs. im currently running terra firma shocks and medium duty springs after previously having ****part heavy duty springs and ES9000 and the difference is amazing. whish id spent the money right the first time!

I've recently had my suspension replaced on the 90 (courtesy of Kris300Tdi) with standard OE springs all round and Terra Firma dampers. The difference is amazing compared to the tired old ones. No more lurching about and much less roll when cornering. I would definately recommend them.

thanks medusa

I've been thinking about the medium terrafirma springs - will a winch be ok on the front (if I get one)

just for disco01

I'd go with 220lb/in springs for the front and no more than 250lb/in for the rear!

I got 290lb/in on my defender 90 Td5 and it's way too hard!!

With new OME shocks it's much better, but still could be softer.
