I've got a problem where the bottom pulley on my 19J keeps coming loose. It happened a few months ago whilst driving along the motorway and has just happened again twice in two days. Anyone have any idea why this might keep happening?

I'm tempted to tighten it up and just spot weld it in place, but is there likely to be a bigger issue causing this?

Anyone have any idea what part number it is? Just looking to see if there are any local to me, but I have no idea what I'm looking for!

Hi guys, had the pulley off. The crankshaft seems to have no key of any kind on it, and is fairly damaged where it's come loose.

It also appears someone has previously tried my trick of welding it to the shaft! Not really sure what to do to be honest.

key only reaches into rear of pulley it will be sheared off, to fully repair youd need another crank and pulley, it might be possible to fashion another key way in front of original one and use a new pulley with plenty of loctite 660

Damn. That is what I was worried you'd say. The pulley spins freely at the moment and doesn't appear to sit squarely on the crank and moves about quite a lot. I think this may be the end for this engine.

its not such a hard job to replace crank if the rest of engine is ok,certainly if the rest is ok better than an unknown used lump,

I'm always a bit scared by the internals of engines! I'll have a look and see what I'll be looking at replacing the crank. It may be worthwhile taking the opportunity to replace the engine with something a little more modern to be honest.

Check it's not chipped as it might be out of balance and is the key way worn . I don't advise any weld maybe loctite but not weld .
