Bottle Jacks

Hi guys
Right me and son have started doing the woodwork for the rear of my 2a 88"( overland / camping / cooking in rear ) and realised that there is little room for a small trolley jack which i have always had but do have loads of room for a bottle jack but never used one so my question is are bottle jacks safe enough to use with a series landy thinking more on a Mway if i get a puncture.

Of course, like any jack it should be rated enough for the weight of the vehicle and regularly inspected but no reason why it wouldn't be safe to use.

A large black of wood to take up of the gap and give the bottle jack a stable platform is also a good idea.

The bottle jack from the disco 1 and 2 are perfect as they are short enough to go under the axle with a flat tyre, and as they are two stage can lift the axle high enough to fit the replacement tyre.
Some of the Iveco bottle jacks are the same.
Ignore the merc sprinter ones as they are simply to tall to fit under the axle with a flat, but are dead good for servicing work etc.

I have a cheap machine mart one. Duz the job but I like a stand under there anorl.
The only issue is the point load on thin metal. Not a problem under a haxle but don’t use one on the wifes fiat 500 sill

The 2A came with a bottle jack, they are ok for changing a wheel.
Not sure I'd enjoy taking my 2A on a motorway though

Agree disco jacks work well, I got 2

When you get to be an old fart like me, it becomes acceptable to call the AA to change a wheel, especially a landy wheel, them sods are heavy.

Thanks guys looks like the disco jack is the answer

If jacked up on a small jack....chock a wheel.....as the transmission parking brake has slop in it....dont want it moving on a bottle jack.
