Hi All,

Is it ok to use the standard Bosch MAF on my V8 LPG?? Was looking to replace mine but the Island 4x4 website warn against using the OEM part on LPG. Is there an alternative?

sequential injection on p38 is prefered..i guess you using single crap point??

They are probably covering their arse with regard to warranty on the MAF.
Single point gas systems had a tendency to back fire up the inlet and destroy the MAF and sometimes the air box. Multipoint gas is much better but they are taking no chances, hence the warning IMHO.

..in that case ie multipoint it dont matter..you should never get a back fire..keep oe..they just trying to sell you stuff you dont need..

Hi goodfella,
Copied from Island 4x4 web site :-

"New air flow sensor which fits Range Rover P38 models from 1999 to 2002 (chassis number XA410482)
Not suitable for vehicles fitted with LPG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As with one back fire it will blow this unit up and void any warranty claim".

Confirms my earlier post.
Cheers. :)

What a bizarre thing to say on a web site!

My lpg place wouldn't touch mine when I first got it as it had an aftermarket MAF on it - he insisted I buy a proper genuine one as he reckoned none of the aftermarket ones worked properly, and being a GEMS it cost a fortune.

Having said that, I read somewhere that most lpg systems don't use the MAF input at all...
