I’ve just installed a boost gauge but it only reads max boost why might this be?
You're not giving much away, butI’ve just installed a boost gauge but it only reads max boost why might this be?
Nah, you need to pay more attention Lynall I fitted one to mine after I rebuilt the engine. Mine is the standard tube to the air inlet manifold, never get a FSD. Easiest way to get max boost from the turbo is going up hill with my foot to the floor. (That's not an FSD though)I think unless you are pootling then they are making pretty much max boost all the time once the revs are up.
I fitted one to mine years ago, after a few days never looked at it again!
Yep I wired it up wrong , wasn’t paying attention You're not giving much away, but
presumably you've bought a digital pressure sensor and you've wired it up incorrectly, giving the equivalent of a FSD.
Glad you got it sortedYep I wired it up wrong , wasn’t paying attention
Can’t get the boost gauge to read 0 now , I’ve had the air line on the gauge and the needle moves with air but won’t go to 0Glad you got it sorted

You've probably carped it with the airline! Can’t get the boost gauge to read 0 now , I’ve had the air line on the gauge and the needle moves with air but won’t go to 0
Neither of those are really suitable for a land rover diesel, unlike a petrol you will never get negative boost pressure. You want one with a much smaller range, you get about 1bar from a tdi, and about 1.5 from a td5 as standard. You will only get more if you have played with it and even then without big changes will not see over 2bar. I had one of these fitted to mine pre fire: link, I will be refitting a new one when I get around to the dash installation but will back up @lynall point about never looking at it, I just need one to check the engine rebuild is ok and then something to fill the hole in the dash!Try one of these, it will likely work a lot better ... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371974766616
Or better still .... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/362806305618
I was only gentle never gave it the beansYou've probably carped it with the airline!
It would be very difficult to judge. Your gauge has a full scale deflection of 30psi. A basic, cheap compressor is going to deliver 120psi+ So you could almost instantly over pressurise the transducer unit.I was only gentle never gave it the beans
