Boost dropping

say you nipped the pipe so the actuator didn't get any pressure to push the rod down, then it wouldn't open the wastegate and it would overboost.

inhaler trick.. might as well :D

Disconnected and it dies the same thing but just boosts higher first lol!

The boost gauge is on the manifold, taking it the easiest way to check for delamination is just by looking inside the hoses?
What would be getting blocked?

Cheers again
Dan

Basically you can get a loose flap of rubber inside the pipe, high flow rates can cause it to stick out into the pipe and effectively block or restrict it. The other thing you could try is to move the boost gauge pipe over to the wastegate pipe (use a 'T' piece) so it measures the pressure at the turbo outlet rather than the inlet manifold. That would check the pressure before any potential restriction and it should hold slightly higher than 15 psi (~18 psi), if you do do that don't forget to block off the hole at the inlet manifold.

Had a look tonight at work and it seemed that the pipe from the snorkel to air box was a bit easy to squash so I removed the connection and ran it without the snorkel piped up and it boosted at lot better but still not 100% so I'm goner change that pipe tomorrow, I might plumb it straight to the turbo for a very small run see if that helps, if it does change the pipe from air box to turbo.
Cheers Dan

Solved it today! There was a pipe from snorkel to air box which was squashing but still wasn't perfect when I replaced it so I bypassed the air box for a short journey and it was perfect so I'm goner change the filter for a new one and if that dosent sort it I will need to source a better flowing filter!
Cheers for the help guys
Dan

nice. you have a homemade snorkel? it may be that rather than your air filter. always best to change it though.

No it's a safari snorkel, and I piped the snorkel direct to the turbo to bypass the filter so I know this is ok now.

Dan

No as I only did it for a very short trip and it proved that that was the restriction!
Already tried disconnecting the snorkel didn't solve it
Cheers Dan

right well, must be the air filter then. you shouldn't be needing a high flow one though. so if a new filter doesn't sort it, i would try again without the snorkel.

double check all the pipes are a good size with no smaller pipe sections.
