Any suggestion on a good book on off-road driving, recovery, preparation,
expedition, etc.

Anything at all by Tom is worth its weight in Gold.

A search of the RGS website will also result in some informative and
free documents. Tom led the Joint Services West East Sahara
Expedition in 1975. Info here:

As a club, we're celebrating this expedition at Marque Day and will
have members of the original team there.

I have a 1989 edition of that. Did they produce a more recent one?
Interestingly enough (as I mentionned in an earlier thread), this book
mentions as the first item to take with you the workshop manual of your
car. Mine is a defender TD5 and when I asked LR for the workshop manual,
they said they don't sell it (not since the TD5)...
