Hi Chaps, being fairly new to the series landy scene, I've always wondered what years was the bonnet made with the straight front edge. I mean the edge above the front grill.

Mines rounded at the front so I take it this is a later one?

This is quite possibly rubbish but...
I think the rounded edge is the deluxe(?) bonnet and were an option for series 2 and standard on series 3.
There is also the straight edged one with a recess for the spare wheel. Dunno what that is- military?

Ah ok, I've always wondered because I've seen the straight edge ones on quite late series 3's but of course bonnets are easy to swap. So probably not the orginal one.

I think the 2A had the 'razor' edged bonnet as standard and some early 3s had it, but the later series threes all had the round edged bonnet.

I thought the delux bonnet was the one that had the spare wheel well on top of it and was available in series 2A and series 3?

I think the straight bonnet is the standard bonnet on 2's and 3's the rounded bonnet is as posted the deluxe option and recessed spare wheel carriers another option. Used to see the deluxe mostly on LWB's though they could of been standard on safari spec motors.

My early SIII has the 'razor edge' bonnet, my later model diesel I had a few years ago had the rounded bonnet and was a standard 88 model. I think the razor edge was phased out early in SIII production.
