The end of the rebuild is nearly in sight.

I have painted the bonnet fitted new bushes into the bonnet hinges and put the bonnet on. Some smart arse walked passed and told me I needed rubber buffers between the bonnet and the bulkhead to stop it rattling.
i have since looked at every defender I have seen and yes they all have buffers so I bought two and looked on the internet to see how they fixed.

Easy push into the holes at the side of the bonnet hinges!! Wrong!!
I do not have any holes in the bulkhead. The bulkhead came off a td5 had no filler so the holes had not been filled in and it was in pretty good shape with original paint.

Can anyone tell me if they made bulkheads without holes and buffers and if so what stops the bonnet rattling???

mine has these

on the hinge, if thats what you mean, theres nothing bolted between the hinge and bulkhead on mine

Thanks gents it sounds as though not all defenders are fitted with them probably depends on what day it was manufactured and if Fred in the bulkhead dept could be bothered.

I came on here to ask a different question but strangely I noticed about 30 minutes ago (having never even noticed their existence up till then) that I have one of these fitted and one that has fallen out and is stuck between the bonnet and bulkhead. Mine don't actually DO anything at all as they don't touch either.

I've seen two different lengths of these as well, so if yours does not touch you probably have the shorter version when you need the longer one.

Hmm. Odd mines an 02 TD5 90 dont have a buffer of sorts, but i do have a rubber seal of sorts running the length of the bulkhead, similar to what seals the doors.

Best mod ever and well worth doing, stopped my feet getting wet!
