My new Defender has its bonnet firmly stuck shut. It wouldn't shut when I first popped it yesterday so in the end I slammed it shut and now its stuck.

The lever inside the cab doesn't do anything and just pulls out without any feeling of resistance.

Is the cable likely to have snapped? Is there a straightforward way to open the bonnet somehow?

Thanks

Simon

Sounds like cable gone. Remove the front grill and you can trigger the lever by hand, a whack on the bonnet above with the other hand helps it let go.

I would not bother fitting a replacement cable. For me the cables used to last about 6 months before snapping again, in the end I made up a loop using the old cable and fitted it through the grill (similar to the series set up), since then have not had is snap. It is not meaningfully a security risk as it is so easy to open the bonnet through the grill as mentioned above anyway there is no point having it in the cab.
