Never heard of that for a Series landy. Could effect cooling? Insulation for noise usually fitted inside the vehicle.

Had that pvc covered felt stuff stuck on the underside of me 109 bonnet with a couple of ally bars riveted to the struts to hold it in place.

Dont know how much difference it made but cooling wasnt an issue.

The best sounds proofing I did on mine was to replace the canvas strip along the top of the front panel, only did it because it was frayed and tatty. That made more differance than I I was expecting. Everything else is a little bit irrelevant when you have an old diesel!

I bought a roll of thick foil backed, self adhesive sound proofing foam from eBay. I cut it into panal to fit between the framework of my series 3 bonnet and it works well. Been stuck on for a couple of years with no problems.

I think bonnet insulation is the last thing to do when reducing noise. It’s worth doing but only once other areas are covered. Bit like squeezing the last few bhp out of an engine.
