Got an annoying problem with the bonnet release catch.

I pull on it but the weight of the tyre on it means it's too heavy to 'raise and release' the catch.
The only way to do it is have someone lift the bonnet up at the same time as another pulls the bonnet release in the cockpit!

At the moment I've resorted to wedging the bonnet open a bit to prevent it slamming shut while on the move. Has anyone got ideas on how to fix this, preferably without moving the tyre.

Cheers

get a big spring and put it somewhere between the bonnet (at the front) and the body. Then it should have the power to lift the bonnet when you pull the catch, but not so much power as to prevent it from closing when slammed.

As has been said, you can get a spring designed to lift a bonnet with a wheel on it. Alternativley you could just put your fingers through the grille and pull the bonnet cable from the outside, then you can easily lift it up when it pops open.

^^^^^ As they said, get the "striker" for bonnet mounted spare, currently part # AGB710020 £14.57. it's the spring and that threaded pointed part, all in one.

I've got one on my 110, although don't often carry a bonnet spare, but with no wheel on, you pull that cable and "TWANG!!!" up goes the bonnet :D:D

with no wheel fitted, you need to give it a good slam too.
