Bonner striking wings - any fix?

My 2001 Freelander, I have found the bonnet is slamming against the wings and damaging the paint on the contacting surfaces of the bonnet and wings on both side. I think this may have been happening a while before I bought her, I can fix the rust but need to fix this first.

The photos show the alignment appears to have 'dropped' at the hinge end - is there a home fix for this or is it a garage job - if the latter, any idea of costings?

If you open the bonnet and look at the hinge, you'll see 2 bolts. Undo both slightly, then push the bonnet up from underneat so the bonnet edge by the hinge moves up towards the windwcreen, then tighten bolts. This will adjust the bonnet so it sits higher where it's catching yer wing top.

Thanks. Shorry I can't help wiv the rust. Freelanders don't normally rust. I would suggest yer goes to either the tratter, disco or rr forums as they cover it in great detail. :pound:

Thanks I got the adjustment sorted.

Rust, I can fix pretty good, I am from the Cortina and Escort generation... I can do rust....

Haha!

So, my wings (2001 Freelander I) are plastic? Are you sure, I'd swear they are rusting on the wing contact points where the bonnet bashed them (adjustment now well fixed, ta).

I'd look but she's away for the w'end. NEVER let the wife get the keys to an automatic 4x4.

Edit - yep, been confirmed, they plastic. Great, not much to fix.
