Disco 2 Body Rust :(

Was under the car this morning retrieving a dropped bolt, when I found this near the body mount passenger side at back of the front wheel well:



Anyone had a similar experience?

Guess I need to get it chopped out and new plate welded in before it spreads too much, but looks an awkward spot/shape to do.

I can only think it's the bleeding road salt that gets used so much about here

It pro ally already has spread under the under seal......

I usually find what you can see is only 50% of he bigger issue when you start digging, if it's not a hole it's ok to work on what's there now before it becomes a hole.
Use jenolite then paint.

If it's a hole it's a mot fail

not a nice find on a disco,experience with d1 would make you fear the worst but with a d2 may well be quite localised hopefully

I've no welder or skills, if anyone knows anyone in Huddersfield area who can sort this I'd appreciate it.

Meanwhile is there anything I can put on it to help keep it contained, fertan or something?

a rust killer will help, i use vactan rust converter on quite a few jobs seems to work very well

I've ordered some fertan, will give it a spray whilst I try find a local firm that can do a good repair.

Think it might be time to invest in a MIG and do a welding course.

Fertan us good but the area needs to be absolutley 100% grease and oil free.
