most things are more reliable than R v8.

the 4.4 bmw lump does like headgaskets compared to the 4.0 and produces the same bhp.

best bet go for the 4.0 and have it mapped to unleash the beast I got 330 bhp and 340 ftlbs torques :D

even the 4.4 does less H/G than the R v8 though!

I dont think there are any for the BMW v8's

More power is normally in the form of blower,NOS or mapping or any combination of them.

Any more power than mine would shred the ZF 5HP30 anyway! and the 6 speed manual are very hard to find and very expensive to fix.

Sounds like you need to read januarys issue of Practical perfermance car. There's a whole feature on fitting the bm v8 into stuff it shouldn't go into.

hmmm yes..

haveing just witnesed my morgan +8 4.0 go in the back of a metro lookin at the head i think i may do a bmw lump in the back of the starlet we have here.ralphs metro is quick but i reckon i can go faster ....:)

is that out of the m5 or an x5 or what?

they were orginally talking about the 4.4 m62 v8 from an e39 540i or an e38 740i then I started talking about the tougher and more reliable m60 4.0 v8 from the e32 740i and the e34 540i (which I own).

I belive the x5 runs a 4.8 v8 and twin turbos have been fitted but beyond about 1998 my bmw knowledge gets a bit shakey. I do Know that the current m5 runs a 507 bhp V10 though :D
