Killed another head this month ..my own fault ...bought a 2nd hand good head ...but the 1 brown water temperature sensor is 2 pin and mines 1 pin ...I understand these are diff with year of production..will it still work if the loom I have is 2 pin as well...coz it's working with 1 pin sensor ..cheers

One pin brown sensors ground to the engine. Two pin blue sensors ground through the second pin. If you have a one pin harness use a one pin brown sensor if you have a two pin harness use a two pin blue sensor. Blue sensors are no longer available or daft money. Two pin harness should still work with a brown sensor.

Worth noting. Bet mine's the early 2 pin on silly money.

Two pin blue sensor is the later version from 1998 on. Brown is the earlier version up to 1997. Brown is fed by a single green wire to it's pin from BECM and grounded through engine. Blue is fed from BECM via green wire to pin 1 and grounded via pin 2 by black wire to loom ground point. Single wire 1997 cars will NOT work with a blue sensor. 1998 and on cars will work with either sensor providing green wire on two pin plug goes to single pin if using brown sensor. What you must NOT do is substitute either the brown or blue sensor for the green two wire two pin ECU sensor. Or Use a brown or blue sensor for the ECU temp sensor. Or you will have big problems as the brown sensor will not work at all and the blue sensor works on different parameters than the green sensor.
