omg can anyone help me or even come and fix my freelander td4 its driving me nuts!! 4 weeks ago i broke down it turned out to be the fuel pressure sensor, quoted 200 but it was dirty so the mechanic cleaned it and its been fine, couple of weeks ago it started blowing blue smoke on start up then it would be fine untill cold again,it runs smooth and fine but there is plumes of blue smoke.
Had it in the garage yesterday and they charge me money saying they suspect a faulty leaking injector, and the air mass reading was low? so it will be £600 plus for the injectors whatever they are doing, surely they must know which injector it is? and it wouldnt cost that much... today the smoke is now blue followed by black.........PLEASE COULD SOMEONE HELP ME ,ANYONE NR HARLOW ESSEX???

THANKS GUYS GAYLE

When was the last time your crank case breather filter was changed? Does it produce blue smoke under load? Is there any crankcase pressure.

Although a leaky injector can cause blue smoke, Freelanders usually won't start with a knackered injector.

im not sure if its been changed at all ,what is it and what does it do.... iv noticed this started when i put lucas injector cleaner in it unless its just coincidence, the mechanic told me to put this in as it was running rough but that was down to the fuel pressure sensor,no one seems to be able to sort this car for me and i had a buyer for it last week they wont buy it will ll this smoke :(

I'm with Ratty, get that breather changed now before you lunch the turbo followed quickly by the engine

OK all you you regular guys, I'm new on here but I'm on my second Freelander a 2003 TD4 it also started smoking intermitantly, but in certain locations more than others so would radio signals affect the on board system, also light on the accelerator genrally between 1500 - 2000 RPM engine is rough as rats, after that goes like stink, could it be the sender in the by wire accelerator pedal?. Fitted a EGR bypass kit (why would an engine manufacturer like BMW fill the air intake with all that black **** I don't know) and I replaced the crancase filter but when it smokes, boy does it smoke, then it clears and runs well Handy the other day when this jerk was 2m up my arse didn't he back off :) so its going into a garage I trust 13th to have diagnostics, fingers crossed might find a solution
