I have just had an oppertunity to check the indicators on my 96 300
tdi disco as they keep blowing fuses.
I find the following with all the indicator globes removed, as well as
indicator plug removed from the stalk at steering wheel and the fuse
removed from the indicator fuse holder. All points (+ve pole and -ve
pole) of the globe holders give continuity to ground. I assume that
this is not right?
The plug that connects to the indicator stalk is a three pin affair. I
assume one live and that switches to either of the other two for left
and right. Anyway one of those three (presumably the live) has +6V.
Surely this should be 12V? The other two have continuity to ground,
0Ohms.
The circuit diagram in Ha*&# indicates the presence of a hazzard
controller and this in turn seems to feed the indicator controller.
(Did I mention that the hazzards work fine?) Other than a big relay on
the fuse box, I can't find any sort of controller module that looks
like a flasher controller. Am I missing something. Since I assume that
this controller is the source of my evils.
Does anyone know where the controllers lurk or have any other ideas?
Haynes was not kind enough to indicate where the controllers might
reside. I did look at the drivers footwell RHS, but those just
appeared to be relay, and didn't seem to be affecting the indicators.
