Don't be too annoyed.

That's the sort of little niggle that can happen after a big rebuild.

Hopefully the repairing garage will say "sorry mate" and fix if fast for you.

will try and get the disco back to the people who did the head job for me. it may be something simple.

they supposidily did the P gasket last year, as pe a previous post, when i had the fuel lift pump replaced.

im only annoyed that it ran faultlessly our the weekend, kept the speed down, didnt over do the driving.... kept checking the water and oil levels, then for the leak to start on the drive way, Ahhhhhhh !!

and theres me hoping to finish changing the front springs and shockers this weekend without anymore complications.

More Valium PLease.

Hi all,

Well it behaved itself for 6 months, but just got back home from a shopping trip. Thought engine sounded a bit noisy, upped the bonnet to find Belt a quarter of the width missing.

Leaking water on the drive way, none on the road. cross fingers nothing else has gone, again.

Looks like the bearings are shot in the water pump, loads of play in the pulley.
is it a straight forward task to replace pump and belt ? time and expense?

Thanks.

the expansion bottle cap if the release valve is blocked would this blow it in half sounds like that has happened but what would be the symptons if the release valve on the cap was not upto the correct pressure would this cause overheating too and then head damage ????

I had similar problem with my 200Tdi discovery.Expansion bottle blew along seam, and oil sump was pressurising.Head gasket had blown between number 3 and number 4 cylinder was told its a common problem.

Hi all,

back on the road again. well after spending another £60ish on a water pump, fan belt and gallon of antifreeze.

The oldwater pump was completley shot. lager groove mark inside the casing where the impellor rubbed. the whole bearing shaft moved around like a games Joystick.

Am happy it failed on the drive way and not on the way home along the A55.

Biggest problem was how to torque the bolts down on the lower pulley.

Comment en retard .Don't get parts here in France .Quicker and much less expensive ,even with courrier, and sometimes quicker ,to get them sent from England .I have an account with Paddock and I just pick up the phone and at most in four days I have the bits. I am improving my Classic RR and 90 and I do sometimes need bits in a hurry.
