ok, so i've stripped it out now, coolant everywhere.

replacing the blown head gasket with the 'supposedly' upgraded head gasket

had the head pressure tested and found a crack there, so getting that repaired, having it skimmed too

ordered a timing belt kit, may aswell change it while i'm doing the work

putting in a new water pump, flushing the radiator and cooling system.

while i'm in there does anyone have any suggestions of work that i should carry out??

heard something along the lines of some blanking mod, and drilling a hole in the thermostat??

any suggestions or advice is greatly appreciated

thank you :)

change the dowels if ya aint already and the bottom rail needs changin. do a search on here and i'm sure theres a list o ****e you need to do..shouldn't be hard to find, reads like the oed:D

it don't sound like you have done it if your drilling your thermostat but you could always fit the modified remote thermostat housing that stops it getting airlocked. loads on e bay usually

order genuine parts only

head gasket had been changed and modified and a special shim is also supllied that sits between multi layer head gasket and cylinder head to prevent the firing rings damaging the head

lower oil feed ladder rail has been modified too for added stiffness

you can buy a kit for about £120 but i think they are on back oder at the mo, you can order all parts separately but about twice the price

Land Rover will only guarantee the part if you change the rail as well
