yes, i had to get it back together come what may so wasn't worth checking.
Got the head off now and offered a plate of glass upto it. So far doesn't look like its a banana but will check more tomorrow.
As for the stretch bolts. If the head is flat so not need to come of again can I swap these after all is assembled and running as I didn't realise that they were ment to be replaced every time the head came off.
got an elring gasket this time, hope it not just a temporay job as I need it back on the road for monday to get to work.
It's always worth checking, it's a standard part of the job
Glass is fookal use, it aint flat, steel ruller.
I use the bolts again on the trucks, occasionally one breaks but it comes out ok. Need to take the head off though and it's usually the last one that breaks
Once it's torqued thats it dont take any bolts out again.
And unless you intend to work for mclarren then slow down and fokin do it right, the way you are going at it you are going to be the fastest gasket fitter in the country. What use is there fitting it together if it blows again on Monday.
Is the head flat, and I gave you the method to check it. Get down to B&Q and get a 2ft steel ruller. Who told you to use glass, even the stuff thats made on a bed of mercury is bent.
Where did the gasket blow, you need to check that area in particular for cracks etc, is one of the combustion areas, pistons a different colour from the rest, if so then it's probably this area the gasket went.
If the head is warped then calm down and get it machined, get somebody to pick you up, phone in sick or sumut and get it fixed properly.
Make sure there are no small cracks in any of the liners at the top, if there are the engine is fooked, so no point puting the head back on.
