Blower/heater fan dead.

My interior blower/heater fan died a slow death while I was on vacation. I seldom use it, never for heat but occasionally in the rain as a defogger.

it started making funny noises and slowed down. Now it wont even come on.

Is it hard to replace?
How do i get to it?
Should i even bother as we never use heaters here?

I could be wrong, but I think its in the black heater box at the back right of the engine bay as you look at the engine.

Pretty sure buster has a write up of taking the heater box apart with lot of pics. Might be useful to give you an idea.
