I got to drive to Manchester and back tomorrow, 360 miles. I just checked my coolant level in my freelander 1.8 and found it was a bit low. Topped it up, drove 6 miles to Sainsburies and back and the level as dropped about half an inch. It seems to be dripping from around the water pump. There's bound to be slow moving traffic if the snow hits. Bugger!

Bummer man

Lots and lots of coolant! Good luck - hopefully you'll be fine with regular top ups. Bad timing - a pump change is not quite the work of a moment - I feel your pain!

Well, I had no choice, I had to go and apart from my series 3 I didn't have have an alternative car. I set off at 4am and pulled into Warwick services about 60 miles away to check the level, all was well. I carried on to my destination with one eye on the temp guage. The slow moving traffic God was on my side all the way. When I arrived, The level had dropped to the minimum mark. I topped it up before I started the return journey and the gods were smiling on me again. Arrived home at 7:30pm without issues. Time to investigate the disappearing coolant, I think.

Is that the big "G" God, or the god of the green oval?
Bet it was a relief to bring it home without a problem.
