So after pulling the seatbox out today to make life easier when removing the gearbox, amongst doing some other bits an bobs, it transpires that the bottoms of the door pillars where the seatbox and sills mount are pretty badly corroded. seeing as its ali im not really sure the best way of attacking the problem.
has anyone else had this issue, how did you go about fixing it?

Also while im at it, does anyone know of anywhere other than yrm who do replacement panels for seatboxes, i know they are pretty good value but im really skint so if there was anywhere who did them a little cheaper it would be good to know.

I got a sheet of steel, cut to size, made my own captive bolts and then covered it in anti corrosive paint before putting back together with new bolts.

What he said..... You could cut it back then have someone tig weld a new ally piece in... But seeing as it isn't structural I'd just patch it over neatly so as not to alarm an ill informed MOT tester.

you could either rivet some new ali on, or copy my steel idea if there's enough body to attach it on (remmeber the chassis support thing is in between seat box and the rear tub holes).

My rot was more like the second picture tbf.....i'll see if I have some photos (i know I took some of my diy captive nuts as was very proud of them :) )
