So I seem to have a similar problem to many others on my 300tdi, my hazards work fine but my indicators do not. The flasher relay buzzes like a bee as long as the indicators are supposed to be on. I don't know if that means it's broken or not. I currently have it out and in my house as apparently it can get wet and stop working so I'm 'drying' it
The only thing others seem to mention is an earth problem but I don't know which earths it could be or which ones to check.
Oh, and my fuse 3 looks fine.
Any help would be just wonderful.

Could be a damp relay but the actual hazard switch can fail inside and the indicators go through this and can cause these symptoms. Anyone near you who could swap a known good switch? Or just buy a new hazard switch.

Interesting how people keep seeming to say it's the hazard switch. How is this likely when the hazards work? I can buy one if that really is likely to be the problem.

Only guessing but the hazard switch will disconnect the indicators from the indicator circuit when switched on, if it doesn't reconnect them when switched off then there will be no indicator load which may be why the relay is buzzing

Thanks for the link Simon, I have seen that before. I will need to get my multimeter up here by the looks of things! Which earth points are you talking about? I've checked the main ones but I don't want to miss anything obvious.

Main one is from neg terminal on battery but you will also have one usually on the bulkhead in the engine bay. You can also have them behind the headlights and also at the rear behind the panels that blank off behind the rear lights. Have you also checked the obvious of the indicator fittings themselves that there is no corrosion on the contacts?

A multimeter is defo your friend :). Good luck

My mate had a similar problem last week, it was dodgy conections behind the fuse box:)

I had a similar problem, it was the stalk assembly. Nothing wrong with the flasher and/or connectors. I mentioned the flasher relay to my local indie Landy shop, and they said they've maybe replaced the flasher a few times, whereas they've replaced the stalks many-a times.
Good luck!

UPDATE: So I've tried drying the relay for a day and a half inside, that gave no joy. Next I replaced the hazard switch with a working one and that didn't work either. Next I replaced the flasher unit itself, no luck either.
I take it this just leaves a bad earth then?

So, after changing everything I could think of and checking all the earths, it turns out Landowner was correct in that it was a terrible connection from the rear of the fuse box meaning it didn't quite create a full connection, explaining why the relay buzzed.
Moral of the story. check the basics first.
