Hi all
After a good look through the forum, I would like to ask whats the Definitive way to bleed a master cylinder after fitting a new one.
Would you fill it up and bleed all the way through the calipers with an eezibleed,
Or
Fill it up and try and bleed at the master cylinder / pipe unions, by loosening them.
Or
Bench bleed the cylinder before fitting
Or
Another method that I cant find out

Would be interesting to hear from some of you

Regards all
Ray

i slacken both pipes to get fluid flowing ,tighten pipes before letting pedal up ,though most of the time they bleed well enough caliper

When I replaced some of my brake components earlier this year I just bolted the new one in, and when the callipers were done too, filled its reservoir up and just bled through at the callipers via the bleed nipples. My experience is that an awful lot of air can hide in a defender braking system, so you may need to bleed several times, especially the rear passenger side calliper, letting things settle for a while between bleeds, possibly overnight if you've got the time. It'll all bleed through eventually, but you might need to be patient. I have a device that pressurises the reservoir which makes it a lot easier. This is for one without ABS, by the way!
