Hi all, first time Land Rover owner checking in from South Wales.

I have a 1976 109, 2.25 petrol Series 3 with a tow hook on the back. Loving the experience, it's somewhere between my 84 Mini and 77 Silver Shadow II, but boy oh boy, what a ride!

Mine's a working vehicle for me, so the hook is off (and stored) and I've been lugging logs, it's superb! The vague steering, rough idle, slipping clutch and rich mixture are all future challenges :D

Welcome...pics we like pics of all your vehicles..
Of course! Here's my lot:

Nice very nice...didnt realise it was a recovery lift you took off thought it was a trailer hitch...lol

After seeing your other vehicles what you think is vague is normal in a series steering...my 101 on Algarve roads is challenging to say the least but you get used to it although not driven it for a while...

Yeh, must admit, I'm getting used to it. The Mini is so direct it's frightening, whereas the Rolls and the Jag waft (the Jag is pretty fast, unlike all the others).

Landy needs some work on timing/carb/choke - very rich, lots of black smoke, terrible idle. Will step through fixing it over the next week or two (subject to twin rotator cuff injuries) with the help of Geoffrey Croker and his similar experience with a 78 89"

Minis were my first cars built loads, worked on rolls when I was a lad (body work) passion for old fords
& landys. Think im not right in the head. o_O:D

Welcome to lz btw ;)
Thanks! Always loved Minis, had one since aged 19 (a long time ago).. The Rolls is recent, and always wanted a Jag since my Grandad had an XJ12 in 1975. Finally got mine in 2016 after a series of diesel boring boxes

The Mini is so direct it's frightening,

Had a hillclimb Imp that I built superb handling bought one of the first 205gti in Scotland was superb...but the one I missed more was my XR4x4 I built from a crash damaged and a low life stole it and wrote it off in a police chase...
