noticed a leak of power steering fluid.it was coming from above the alternator.upon further investigation it appers to be leaking from the atf filler cap.i see it has a seal on it.
just seems a bit odd to loose that much fluid from the resevoir top
 
the leaking resevoir is to the right of the engine as you look in.black cap that say atf only.i topped it up and the noise on the steering stopped.
cant get a pic in this light
 
If the PAS fluid was low and the pump was cavitating (making odd noises) it would aerate the fluid causing it to expand and overflow....there is a breather hole in the res. cap IIRC, so it is probably overflowing out of that....

Clean it all up, and now you have topped it up, that will stop the cavitation....keep an eye on it if it overflows again, time to look a little deeper.

If you have any air in the system, just turn fully lock to lock a few times. Hold fully lock either way for three or four seconds no more. That should get it out. You may get a bit of fluid being blurted out though.
 
looks like there is a steady drip from somewhere between pump and resevoir.
anyone had this before
 
its not coming from the pipes
its dripping from the pump or resevoir
is there a gasket in that area
