Got loads done today, fitted the wind screen, cleaned up, fitted and painted the doors

Cleaned up the doors

Nice work! Have been following this, how did you find putting the windscreen in (or taking it out way back) as the seal on mine is fooked but don't want to crack it changing it! Any tips?

Cut the old rubber with a sharp Stanley blade, if you follow the metal frame with the blade on the outside all th way round the screen will jut push in,
You will need two people to fit it the way i did it,
When fitting we put the new rubber on the screen and ran a piece of string inside the rubber along the bottom all the way around the screen and along the bottom again, so you should have an end of the string at both bottom corners, keep the string tight and sit the bottom of the screen in the frame. Now one of you holds the string tight the other pushes the screen into position whilst using the other end of the string to pull the rubber lip over the frame, you should be able to do this all the way around until all the string comes out and the seal is in place.
Hope that make sense, it was the first time ive ever done it, it wasnt difficult and it cost £2 for a length of decent string and it took about 20 minutes

I did that on a mk4 escort many years ago. And took the windows out of a disco and my rangy. Make sure it's good string and put plenty of fairy liquid on both the seal and the glass.

Thanks for that, found that one of the main leaks today was in fact coming from a crack in the windscreen seal so managed to finally locate it after taking part of the dash off! Have injected some silicone into it for now but will hopefully have a bash at changing the windscreen soon. Just really don't want to crack it!!!

Exactly what the local windscreen indie did when he changed my chipped screen. Except he removed the screen by sitting in the front seat and putting the soles of his trainers against it and pushing it out while I held the screen!Thanks Mitch

Then just like you say, he lubed the seal with washing up liquid and slid the string round the outside to pop the lip over the frame! Ansum!

Right then started cleaning up the door panels
Sprayed them up
Fitted the new window runner
Fitted the new window seals and all the other gubbins, hey presto working windows
Fitted the wing mirrors
Gave it the hose pipe test and only one leak, which I was expecting cause I need a bit more sealer
Hopefully get the back door complete during the week and maybe the final bits of filler

Good luck, make sure you get a thread on the go with loads of pics
will do it wont be coming apart to the extent yours did as mines my daily work vehicle but it will look 100 % better when its done
