Does anyone know how much Billing are charging for day tickets this year?
Every year I get p*ssed off with their stupid policy of charging per
vehicle, which means that as I normally go alone I end up paying the same as
someone with a 110 full of people. If they charged per person they would
actually end up getting more money, or is it a matter of getting as many
people in as possible, so that they can play the numbers game.
Cheers, John

Day tickets can also be purchased on the day for £20 for two people in one
vehicle or £30 for 3 or more people in one vehicle.

Or you can park on the adjacent Industrial estate and walk in for nowt
(despite my attempts to pay as pedestrians x2 adults and 2 children).

We only discovered this having been turned away by traffic police and

Of course it does become a PITA if you buy anything bulky.

I bet there is loads of people who get in for free . Come through the
funfair part on and evening and pitch your tent. All the locals kids use this
route for a drive around and jump on your tents at midnight.
Being no real organization or security who would know or care.Last year we
paid and booked months in advance and when we went on the Friday evening
were told just drive around and find a pitch. What a joke we ended up
squeezing in on the grass kerb near the go cart track half on the road.
Having kids not the best place to be but a lesson learned(Go a week before
it starts and spread half an acre of camo netting around your landrover and
watch all those who couldn't get of work during the week fighting for the
grass bits on muddy road verges on Friday night).
My point is I paid the same amount to camp at 45 degrees on lumpy mud half
on the road in a 2man tent as those who had a footy pitch under camo between
their landies.
So this year I am going for free Just like those I watched do it last year.

Feel better getting that of my chest

I've been to Billing twice (last year and the year before) and have
camped in the field next door both times. I think I was charged 15
quid a night which is a heck of a lot more than I usually pay for
camping. The camping field is run quite well, in my opinion. The
tents are set out in boring, regimented rows but at least the land is
flat and you get space to park your 'rover next to the tent. There
are toilets and showers (although you'd best be up early if you want
warm water!) and the best bit is that you can walk, for free, along a
pulic right of way into the showground.

I always take a wander round the Aquadrome and thank deity I'm not
paying good money to squeeze into a 2 foot patch of riverbank next
door to a midge-infested swamp.
