Slightly different here in Norfolk. We had a friend doing
some tree work in our garden. He slipped and the chainsaw
went into his wrist doing a lot of damage. Wife got to him
to stop the bleeding whilst I went call 999. Got apologies
about the delay in answering my call - it seemed like a
lifetime..... Anyway minutes later the air ambulance was
hovering overhead. We signalled to let him know he was in
the correct location. The paramedics arrived and they
contacted the air ambulance and made the necessary
arrangements. It is policy for the accident to be evaluated
by the ground crew before the air ambulance will land. In
the heat of the moment I never got round to asking why.
It was touch and go but the hand was saved. Six months later
he came and finished the job! I've not been near a chainsaw
since......
