There's a story behind that one; many years ago, I wanted to know how to use the ruddy 'puters at work; went to my local night school looking for a course; computer studies 'geek' told me they could teach me how to build a puter.... how to program a puter, or how to configure a computer network.....
OK, said I, which one will tell me how to get the ruddy failure data out of the soddin data-base at work?
Try the 'clerical' department, he said....
So I did.
woman that ran it, told me all about the courses, and how 'database management' was covered in one of the RSA courses, so I duly enrolled.....
Only to discover, that it was an effin typing course!
APPARENTLY, you had to qualify as a typist, before you could do the 'Secretarial' course, which qualified you for the 'Office Admin' course... which included the bit about data-bases!
Tried explaining to the woman I had absolutely NO need to aquire a 40wpm typing rate, as I had a secretary for that, but to no avail......
and besides; I was 24, and the only bloke in a class-room full of 18/19 year old girls....... and the company was paying for it........

Back to the topic, you could just remove the thermostat to confirm that is not the problem.
Has Irontite ever been used. I tried irontite on a Discovery with overheating problems as it was recommended as a miracle cure. Real problem was a clogged radiator which the irontite finnished off completely. Ran fine for about 100 miles after adding the Irontite then boiled every 5 miles and erupted like a geysher from the coolent bottle. Inspected the rad core with the tanks removed and the irontite had clearly sealed most of the tube ends of the radiator.

I did it to me ser3 when I had enuf with it and it makes ye feel loads better.
