He's the man-I was told it can't be done. A newish head unit thru HK system is great for clearing frozen rain off your windows!

£50 seems a lot for a lead of any sort

It's not when your clarion radio cassette will only pick up radio 2 and the cd player doesn't work. If you've got HK use it and enjoy, with today's technology-DAB, ipod,iphone,usb etc. I'm starting to notice that us "Junior" members don't seem to have any valid opinions according to "Senior" members, who like radio cassettes, can't get reasonable fuel consumption etc.

I just mean it probably cost pence from china, he just knows where to buy the right one so £50 is a lot for a lead. I didnt say it wasnt your cheapest option.

Do the steering wheel controls still work? Also what about the CD multi changer unit in the back?

The steering wheel controls and multichanger have their own leads, the multichanger has a large round connector on it, if it plugs into your headunit it will work otherwise an adapter is called for (personally I haven't bothered, multichanger is bust anyway) and your steering wheel controls need a "patch" lead which is specific to your headunit-JVC, Kenwood, Blaupunkt etc. Sorry if that sounds like more expense (it is) and hassle (it is again) but Land Rover really don't want us changing the ICE for better, newer aftermarket equipment (HK amp system excepted, working it's brilliant). Hope I haven't put you off, my DAB system sounds fabulous in the Rangie and there is such a choice of stations I haven't put any CDs in the car!

It should do if you've the clarion headunit with a pink or red 10 pin connector, but ask Peter via the ebat store link above. If you click on contact details it gives you his phone no as well and he's easy to talk to and really helpful.

A very nice man called Michael is coming tomorrow to fit a new head unit in my old Rangie. I told him about the lead and his only comment was that there is some sort of voltage or earth mismatch between the HK amp and the head units that causes a slight hiss during quiet tracks, or between tracks.

This lead doesn't do the steering wheel controls, but there are patch leads that do. In theory, it's possible to update only the head unit and get iPod and Bluetooth conntectivity in the new kit.

BTW, I think Peter makes the lead himself. Niche part, enthusiast made, probably in his shed. Completely in keeping with a LR
