Hi, this is a big thanks to all who advised me to change my cam sensor when I was having probs starting when it was hot. It worked!!!!!! :) :)

But then my rear pump failed:mad:

After reading forums on here and the rover forum (ZT/CDT). I thought I would try just replacing the pump, instead of getting ripped off for £300 for a new unit from the Stealer. So took it off and stripped it down. Found the part number for the Peugeot unit with the same pump (T18326 from GSF cost £67.50 +VAT). But whilst stripping down my old one and taking pictures, I dropped IT    . Broke off a little bit of plastic which holds the guage sender on. So back to puter and check for cheapest full unit. Found cheapest to be at LRdirect.com £130. Ordered one and fitted it and it works :) :) :) .

But trying it for first time on tick over. It doesn't make a ticking noise, just a whirring one.

My question is. I dissconnected the electrics from the underbonnet one, to see if it would work off just the intank unit. It would not start. Should it start with just the intank unit connect ????????

Also if anybody would be interested. I could write a "noddy" guide of how to strip the tank pump down if you wanted to change the pump itself (with pictures)

Cheers

good job on sourcing the alternative part ;)

Don't know about the sensor start issue, doosel boys will keep you right.

The common faults and Q's section could do with a write up with piccies.

Incidentally, you don't know Chris T from mg-rover.org do you? ;)

Naw not me. Im Chris Tr on that forum.

Anybody know if the TD4 year 2000 should start with just the in tank pump working???

Thats the answer I was hopeing for as I just wanted confirmation that the new pump I have just fitted is working correctly!!!
