Hi all,
I want to sound proof my 110 shortly, having a good look at all the current acoustic matting under the carpets and trim, it seems to have degraded over time and its definitely getting louder in the cabin.
So, two quick questions;
1. What is the best sound proofing kit specifically made for defenders, ie. moulded matting, ready cut kits etc. Has to be damp proof water resistant to prevent rot further down the road.
2. What is the best DIY sound proofing option, im not afraid of a bit of graft if it will give the desired results, should be able to fit under carpets, same as above in regards to water.
Whats your suggestions?
Thanks.

Soundproofing in a Fender?

The internal musical engine and body music are all part of the design!

FFS ... It's an FN Fender!

Before all the current matting broke down, it was fine, its just recently its gotten 10x worse and I cant hear myself think, I've taken all the carpets out now and its only a tad worse, which proves how bad its gotten.

Thanks for the replies folks, ill have a measure up and price up some fat mat or dynamat.

I usually find dynamite is a stupid price, fat mat usually a bit more sensible. Good stuff though, should work great with something over the top too. I only ever put soundproofing like fat mat on the floor of the land as carpet won't go well. Check out the thread in general land rover char currently talking about sound proofing, I should be posting some pics of mine this afternoon or evening.

I've posted this to two current sound proofing threads. When I changed the HU and speakers in mine I wanted to improve the bass response from the doors so to give them a bit more mass I used Brown Brothers sound deadening sheets from Partco. It's like a adhesive backed lead sheet about 1 or 2mm thick, panelled the doors with it and it did a pretty good job on the audio response. All the reviews rated it well and said it did just as good a job as more expensive sound proofing products.

I've got the wright off road full matting in my 200tdi.
Very impressed the road noise is drastically reduced.
Not cheap though but I was prepared to give it a try, luckily I'm very happy with it

I bought silentcoat from caraudiodirect. Much less than dynamat and seems to do a sound job. Still need to lay the foam and maybe carpet... But if nothing else, the doors now slam with a solid thud!

Perhaps a bit pointless on a soft top but each to their own!

I got something called "peel and seal" off amazon. It's about the same material as dynamat, but a fraction of the cost. It's mainly used for roofing.

Over this I used stall matting, cut to fit the footwells and load space.

Hope the attachments come through taptalk.

Thanks for all the replies guys, really helpful. I think im going to go with silent coat sheets for the base, closed cell foam for the middle and new carpet set for the top to finish it off, hopefully that should do the job.
