BEST PAINT FOR WHEEL ARCH FLARES, TRIMS

The wheel arch flares on my Disco 2 are looking pretty shabby, somebody has previously painted them with I don't know what, they are almost a gloss finish – I would like to get them back to looking something like the original plastic matt finish after giving the current coating a thorough rubdown to a flat surface.
Anyone done this before and had good success with a particular product?

Leaves a rough to the touch matt finish which I liked, Ive been looking for pictures but cant find any atm but I do still have a couple of cans in the shed.
