best jack for a defender 110?

Hi everyone!
my new(to me) 1981 110 came without a jack or wheel wrench, which i deiscovered when i got a flat on the way home... o_O

I'm going to buy all the kit i'll need to replace the wheel in the future, does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks in advance!

+1 on the bottle jack, and a decent bit of wood to put it on, an off-cut off a joist from a building site perhaps, say 8" x 8" x 2".
 
Too keep in the land rover for emergencies:
a land rover bottle jack from a range rover or discovery (a quick google will show you what I mean, these have a curved top to grip the beam axle rather than a small flat circle a lot of bottle jacks have)
a three foot breaker bar,
a 27mm deep impact socket.

This will all fit behind the seat between, the seat and the bulkhead in a hardtop (this is where I keep mine)

To keep in the garage at home for every other time you will need to lift the vehicle, a trolley jack similar to the one posted by @Beneagles

It is indeed but for the price of them you have another one in your tool box so you don't have to keep fishing around behind the seat!
For me the items I have listed are completely stand alone and never leave the land rover. I have duplicates in the garage for other work required apart from the bottle jack which is replaced with a proper trolley jack.
 
I bought a Disco bottle jack on ebay, it fits in the battery box out of the way with wheel chocks and towing strop etc.
Bottle jack has never been used yet though, I use a trolley jack for normal routine work and servicing.

About 40 years ago, my dad bought an offset ring spanner, with a hack saw he cut off the other end, that’s been the wheel nut spanner in every single series, 90 and 110 since.
 
I've also got a disco bottle jack and I use one of those extendable breaker wrench things for the nuts. I like that because once the nuts are cracked but still a little tight, the bar handle can be retracted so you can spin the nut without the bar hitting the ground.

+1, also use the retractable handle to tighten the nuts, have checked with a torque wrench and is spot on what is called for with one neilly / handle torques.

I'm only 21 so don't understand how the 'old style plates' work haha! it starts with A, has three numbers, then three letters ending in D.

You're right, it is actually '83. not sure where i got 81 from!
 
It may be a bit indulgent, but I keep a cordless 1/2" de Walt impact driver in the 110. Makes life a lot easier and you make friends if someone else needs a tyre change!
Haven't yet got round to wiring in a step-up charger - all in good time!
