Best 110 engine for MPG?

What sort of MPG could I expect to get from a 110 with either;

a. TD5
b. 300TDi

My Disco TD5 Auto is only returning 20.5 mpg which is dreadful, so would a manual 110 be any better?

I have a 90 300tdi with o/d does 34 to gallon . also son has a 200 tdi 110 with o/d 35 empty when towing Ivor williams tri axle trailer with 3 ton of steel 28 to the gallon. OIL CHANGE 3000 OIL AND FILTER GREASE NIPPLES 6000.AIR AND DIESEL FILTERS EVERY 6 MONTHS. AXLES AND GEARBOXES,TRANSFER BOX, O/D EVERY I2 MONTHS ALSO FLUSH RADIATOR AND REPLACE ANTIFREEZE. A GOOD MAINTAINCE REGIME IS VERY IMPORTANT TO ECONOMY AND RELIABILIRY-------BB

My '99 td5 with Mud terrain tyres & roof rack = 27mpg at last reckoning. I have no overdrive or transfer box mods and don't drive conservatively

I've had my last £20 worth last best part of a month.

I've got a 1994 300Tdi 110, which does 28mpg around town.

Mine Defender 90 Td5 has a 27-30 mpg

My grandad has a 2.8TDI intercooled isuzu engine in his and it does 34 MPG.

Isuzu 110 gets 35 mpg all the while !!!!
